Mario Draghi’s pledges to save the euro

In a speech at the Global Investment Conference in London, Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central bank told business leaders that the ECB had the legal right to act if the high bond yields caused by Europe's sovereign debt crisis were making its interest rate policy less effective.

"Within our mandate, the ECB is ready to do whatever it takes to preserve the euro. And believe me, it will be enough."
